The Catholic Community of North Harbour
In the Care of the Augustinians
An Augustinian parish is one that values:
Community: where friendships are developed through inter generational and cultural diversity, shared stories and experiences. This community works towards becoming a Church that is a centre of witness, courage and justice.
Service: supporting and developing the common values and beliefs of compassion and charity that support those in need and the marginalised. In response to the call of our baptism we are encouraged to contribute our gifts and by reaching out to others we are able to respond to the contemporary needs of the Church in our time.
Worship: we accept the searchers' "restless heart" and value the Sunday Eucharist as a core celebration that sends the assembly forth to witness and serve the community. The action of contemplation and reconciliation between each other and God allows the search for truth and knowledge through learning, formation and education.
The above values were developed by the Parish Pastoral Council of North Harbour through a combination of formation centred on the life of Saint Augustine and the history of the Augustinian Order led by Fr Tony Banks and Fr Peter Wieneke and from the experiences of council members of life and worship within an Augustinian Parish.
