Your copy is available this week of the latest Parish J&P Bulletin, featuring the ministry of our own volunteers and that of a group of Catholic volunteers in Vietnam. This Bulletin introduces the exciting new Augustinian Volunteers’ Ministry with Aboriginal young people in Sydney. Augustinians intend to fund this ministry of the Augustinian Volunteers through a central trust fund. If this is a ministry you would like to support, please see details in the Bulletin.

This year again the Augustinians in Australian have sponsored a program for lay volunteers, that began in our own community in North Harbour, with the arrival of a number of young local and interstate participants for a three week intensive experience of studies, training , prayer and reflections organised and lead by our Augustinian Justice and Peace Officer, Mr. Paul Wilson and Fr. Paul Maloney O.S.A.
We pray for the success of the program that all involved may be richly rewarded and we warmly welcome them in our midst.
Who are the Augustinian Volunteers?
Augustinian Volunteers are young (and not so young) adults who commit to work at the margins of society in ministries alongside The Augustinians. Volunteers work at least one day per week for a period of 12 months.
Copies of the latest copy of the Augustinian magazine ‘Amici’ are available at the back of the church. |

Augustinian Friends is an association for people in Australia who seek participation in spirituality and in particular Augustinian spirituality with a desire to formalise their connection with the Augustinian world family.
In our busy world many people feel disconnected from their community and from each other. St Augustine of Hippo promoted personal and communal spirituality. He asks us to be attentive to our hearts where God dwells and to our community; by being of service to each other so as to contribute to the creation of a better society.
Augustine's spirituality has been a great medicine for people since the 4th Century and we believe it is still relevant to the needs of today. It is because of his spirituality and in response to our modern needs that Augustinian Friends was formed.
Who Was St Augustine?
Augustinian spirituality reflects the life story of Augustine and his experience of conversion. As a young man Augustine was restless and without direction. He pursued a long and painful search for truth that he hoped would provide him with rest. In his conversion at the age of thirty-three he felt his innermost heart lovingly spoken to by the Word of God. It was then he wrote 'our hearts are restless until they rest in you'.
What do Augustinian Friends do?
Augustinian Friends - Seeking God Together receive Amici a quarterly Newsletter and a Prayer Resource Guide.
Gatherings, as a community, are based on friendship, hospitality and prayer with discussions of Saint Augustine's writings and celebrations of Augustinian Feast Days.
Other opportunities include adult faith formation, local, national and international gatherings and community/charity work.
If you are interested and would like to find out more about Augustinian Friends please contact Sue Mackey on 9982-6357 or 0409 392 662 or e-mail the chaplain, Fr Paul Maloney O.S.A. -
