The June Spaghetti Night will be held early this month, this weekend, Sunday 16th June after 6pm Mass. We have brought it forward because the fourth weekend is the start of the school holidays for many families and we expect that many will be away. This date  is also the Anniversary of the Dedication of St Kieran's Church so we will make it a celebration of that event also.

GIFT April Drive -

An overwhelming response -

A heart-felt THANK YOU to all our families, friends and schools who rallied so overwhelmingly for our first GIFT drive for Dalwood Spilstead Services. Between the enormous donation from the schools, other Parish families and Humphries Newsagency, on Monday 29th April we were able to fill to capacity a 3 tonne truck with much needed items for over 90 local families and the services that support them. Thank you also to Coles Stocklands, Bunnings Balgowlah and Zenith Removals for sponsoring the drive. And an enormous thank you to Humphries Newsagencies for your generous donation and commitment to support Dalwood as your business cause. This is truly a GIFT!

The St Cecilia’s community is warmly welcoming any potential new additions to the Family Come Gather team.  Are you new to the school community? Are you sometimes at mass and wondering how you might be able to contribute? Would you like to attend a mass where the children have a specially tailored liturgy so that you have some time for quite(er) reflection? If any of this rings true or you would just like to get more involved, then the team are calling for volunteers for any number of roles. Your contribution could be towards coordinating, reading, children’s liturgy, senior and junior serving, music ministry or simply staying around after mass to have a chat.  Whether you have a little time or a lot please get in touch with us if you think you can help us out in any way. This feast calls us to focus on two manifestations of the Body of Christ, the Holy Eucharist and the Church. The primary purpose of this feast is to focus our attention on the Eucharist. The opening prayer at Mass calls our attention to Jesus' suffering and death and our worship of Him, especially in the Eucharist.
At every Mass our attention is called to the Eucharist and the Real Presence of Christ in it. The secondary focus of this feast is upon the Body of Christ as it is present in the Church. The Church is called the Body of Christ because of the intimate communion which Jesus shares with his disciples. He expresses this in the gospels by using the metaphor of a body in which He is the head. This image helps keep in focus both the unity and the diversity of the Church.

St Kieran’s School 60th Anniversary Mass was held on Saturday 1st June at 3.30pm followed by hospitality in the parish centre.
We congratulate St. Kieran’s on the occasion of its Diamond Jubilee and pray that it will continue to guide our young people for many years to come.

Last Friday’s intercultural dinner was a big success with special guest masterchef Amina.

Congratulations, Norm Chant! During Mass last weekend Norm was presented with a papal blessing in recognition of his many years with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Trinity Sunday, officially "The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity," is one of the few celebrations of the Christian Year that commemorates a reality and belief rather than a specific event or person. On Trinity Sunday we remember and honor the eternal God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Trinity Sunday is celebrated the Sunday after Pentecost, and lasts only one day, which is symbolic of the unity of the Trinity

This symposium will be held at St Augustine’s College, Brookvale, from 5-7 July 2013. Participants from the parish are invited and we are also looking for billets for our interstate visitors. If you feel you could assist please contact the office.

“Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of Luke” 9-10 August, 2013

Father Senan Ward OSA, will be celebrating Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 2 Richard Porter Way Pymble on THURSDAY 23^rd May 2013 at 6.30PM followed by a light meal, a short meeting and the continuation of our online adult faith programme. This month Australian theologian Fr John Thornhill sm will be continuing the topic “An Introduction to Catholic Theology – Introducing the Creed” which is from The Emmaus Series

Although the Year of Grace is due to finish at Pentecost 2013, the Year of Faith is to continue until the end of the liturgical year. For this reason, the final Liturgy for the Year of Grace / Year of Faith will take place to coincide with the Feast of All Saints on 1 November 2013. This will be a Liturgy called Face of Jesus, Faces we Know – A Celebration of Holiness. It will echo one of the central themes of the Second Vatican Council, the universal call to holiness.

Next Sunday 19th May is Pentecost Sunday. Please wear something RED when you come to Mass.

This national celebration is aimed at raising the awareness of families that getting the balance right between family, work and community involvement makes for strong families, workplaces and communities.

Families Week provides an opportunity for us to reflect on how we achieve a harmonious balance in our various life activities. All-loving God, we give you thanks and praise for mothers young and old.

We pray for young mothers, who give life and count toes and tend to our every need; May they be blessed with patience and tenderness to care for their families and themselves with great joy.
We pray for our own mothers who have nurtured and cared for us; May they continue to guide us in strong and gentle ways.
We remember mothers who are separated from their children because of war, poverty, or conflict; May they feel the loving embrace of our God who wipes every tear away.
We pray for women who are not mothers but still love and shape us with motherly care and compassion.
We remember mothers. grandmothers, and great-grandmothers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love. Amen.

Fr Dipi's  meditation sessions are on Tuesdays at 9.15am and  Thursdays at 6.30pm.

Sessions will be held in the chapel or church at St Kieran’s.

We congratulate Fr Peter Tangey OSA who celebrates the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood this Sunday at St Clair Parish.

Fr. Peter served in Manly Vale parish in the 1990s and then as chaplain at St. Augustine’s College

We are hoping to do the collection run from the school and neighbourhood on Friday 3 May (TBC).

There appears to be a good range of items including cots, prams, nursery furniture and plenty of baby clothes, play equipment and ride-on toys, puzzles, books and games and craft items.

We have some wonderful news—Humphries Newsagencies in Manly would be thrilled to support our current drive! They were very taken with the extent of Dalwood's services and the local need and they love the simplicity of GIFT.  We have been invited to walk through their warehouse and pick out what we need for the Dalwood toy and book libraries.
